KINGS OF SOPHENE. Arsames I, circa 255-225 BC. Tetrachalkon (Bronze, 21 mm, 4.20 g, 9 h), first series. Diademed head of Arsames I to right, wearing bashlyk with beaded edges. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΑΡΣΑΜΟΥ Arsames on horseback to right holding spear against two attacking soldiers; beneath the horse fallen enemy soldier. ACV 3. CAA 2. Kovacs 1 (same dies). Very rare; brown patina and fine bust of Arsames. Some corrosion on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.
