CIMMERIAN BOSPOROS, Pantikapaion. Circa 340-325 BC. Drachm (Silver, 15mm, 3.56 g 12). Bearded head of Pan to left, turned three-quarters facing to front. Rev. Π - Α - Ν Bull’s head to left, turned slightly to front. Anokhin 121. MacDonald 57. SNGBM 880. SNG Stancomb 548. A very attractive, sharply struck and darkly toned example. Nearly extremely fine.

From a European collection.

The perspective used by the artist who made the obverse die for this coin is quite unusual. The neck is clearly shown in profile to left, but the head is turned back to the right so that it is nearly facing directly at the viewer.
