SPAIN. Arsaos. Circa 150-100 BC. Denarius (Silver, 18 mm, 3.87 g, 1 h). Bearded male head to right; to right, dolphin; to left, plow. Rev. Arsa Horseman riding right. SNG BM 924. Toned and with a nice obverse. Reverse uncleaned and with overlying deposits, otherwise, very fine.

SPAIN. Sekia. Second half of the 2nd century BC. As (Bronze, 24 mm, 8.96 g, 4 h). Bearded male head right; dolphin behind. Rev. Sekia Warrior on horseback to right; above left, star. SNG BM Spain 779 (same obverse die). Well centered and with an attractive green patina. Struck from worn dies, otherwise, very fine.

SPAIN. . (Bronze, 15.31 g), Gadir (Gades), late 3rd - 2nd century BC, Half-unit and Unit (15 & 26 mm). Head of Herakles to left. Rev. Two tuna fish. SNG BM 180 ff., and 228 ff. Both clear, the first with a brown patina and the second with a green one. Nearly very fine.

Struck from slightly worn and rusty dies, otherwise, good very fine.

GAUL. Massalia. Circa 200-150 BC. Drachm (Silver, 16 mm, 2.75 g, 6 h). Bust of Artemis to right. Rev. MAΣΣAΛIHTΩN Lion walking right; between legs, BY (monogram) - K. SNG Copenhagen 764-773 varmonograms. Attractively toned. Lightly struck and with a very minor test cut on the edge, otherwise, very fine.

Dembski 782-783. Flesche 511-512. Kostial/Lanz 108. Beautifully toned. Reverse heavily damaged by corrosion otherwise, very fine/very good.

CELTIC, Southern Balkan Area. Later 4th century BC. Stater (Silver, 22 mm, 7.31 g, 10 h), reduced weight, Illyro-Macedonian area. Laureate head of Apollo to right. Rev. ΔΑΜΑΣΤ - ΙΝΩ[Ν] // ΚΗΦ Tripod on inscribed base. Apparently unpublished. A particularly intriguing imitation, struck on a low weight standard. Toned. Struck on a tight flan, otherwise, good very fine.

CELTIC, Asia. Late 4th or early 3rd century BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 16.73 g, 9 h), an early imitation of a tetradrachm of Alexander III from Damascus. Head of Herakles in lion skin headdress to right. Rev. ΑΛΕΞΙΑΝΡΟ / ΣΙΛΕΩ (second word retrograde) Zeus seated on throne to left; below, ΔΑ; in field to left, torch. Unpublished?. Very rare. A bold piece, well-struck. Good very fine.

SNG ANS 303. Nicely toned. Old abrasions on the obverse and corroded surfaces on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.

LUCANIA. Herakleia. Circa 390-340 BC. Stater (Silver, 23 mm, 7.59 g, 12 h). Helmeted head of Athena to right. Rev. ΗΡΑΚΛΕΙΩΝ Youthful Herakles wrestling lion to right. HN III 1376. Work 30. Clear and pleasant. Flan crack and grafitto on the obverse, otherwise, about very fine.

LUCANIA. Herakleia. Circa 330/25-281 BC. Stater (Silver, 19 mm, 7.94 g, 7 h). [ͰΗΡΑΚΛΗΙΩΝ] Head of Athena to right with Corinthian helmet adorned with Skylla; to left, Κ. Rev. ͰΗΡΑΚΛΗΙΩΝ Herakles standing facing; to left, skyphos and ΑΘΑ. HN III 1384. Cf. SNG ANS 74. A toned, clear and attractive piece. Some areas of striking flatness, otherwise, about extremely fine.

LUCANIA. Metapontum. Circa 540-510 BC. Stater (Silver, 27 mm, 8.15 g, 12 h). ΜΕΤ Ear of barley with eight grains. Rev. Ear of barley with eight grains, all incuse. HN III 1459. Noe 3. Toned and clear. Some scratches and marks, and some uncleaned encrustations on the reverse, otherwise. Good very fine.

LUCANIA. Metapontum. Circa 340-330 BC. Stater (Silver, 20 mm, 7.66 g, 11 h). Helmeted head of Leukippos to right; to left, lion's head; below chin, monogram. Rev. META Barley ear with ΑΜΙ and club. HN III 1575. Johnston B2. SNG ANS 438. Clear and toned. About very fine.

LUCANIA. Poseidonia. Circa 445-420 BC. Stater (Silver, 19 mm, 7.85 g, 9 h). ΠOΣEIΔ (retrograde) Poseidon striding to right. Rev. ΠOΣEIΔΑ (retrograde) Bull walking left. HN III 1116. SNG ANS 658. Nicely toned and of good style. Minor metal fault on the obverse and test cut on the edge, otherwise, very fine.

LUCANIA. Thourioi. Circa 443-400 BC. Stater (Silver, 22 mm, 7.79 g, 2 h). Head of Athena to right, her helmet adorned with olive wreath. Rev. ΘΟΥΡΙΩΝ Bull butting left; below, Θ; in exergue, fish to left. HN III 1764. Nicely toned and surprisingly uncommon with the bull to left. Sharply struck. Double struck on both sides and with a ragged flan, otherwise, about extremely fine.

SNG ANS 91. Toned, and with a particularly artistic reverse die. Obverse struck from a worn and recut die, otherwise, very fine.

SICILY. Himera. Circa 530-483/2 BC. Drachm (Silver, 21 mm, 5.39 g). Rooster standing right. Rev. Incuse square with mill-sail pattern enclosed within segmented linear border. Kraay Group I, 42 var (o31/R-). SNG ANS 137-138. Toned; a pleasant example. About very fine.

SICILY. Katane. Circa 450-405 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 16.67 g, 7 h), 450-445. Charioteer driving quadriga moving slowly to right. Rev. KATANAION Laureate head of Apollo to right. Dewing 584 (same dies). SNG ANS 1241-2 (same obverse die). SNG Lloyd 893 (same obverse die). Toned, and well centered. Obverse struck from slightly worn die, otherwise, very fine.

SICILY. Katane. Circa 450-405 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 17.03 g, 5 h). Charioteer driving quadriga moving slowly to right. Rev. KATANAION Laureate head of Apollo to right. Rizzo Tav. XI, 11. SNG ANS 1247 (same dies) SNG Munich 434 (same dies, but its reverse is from a later state). Toned. Slightly doublestruck obverse and minor die break on the reverse, otherwise, about very fine.

SICILY. Kentoripai. Circa 214-210 BC. Tetrachalkon (Bronze, 26 mm, 11.44 g, 8 h). Laureate head of Zeus to right. Rev. KENTO-PIΠINΩN Thunderbolt. Campana 2, B/b. SNG ANS 1308 (same obverse die). Dark brown-green patina. Some minor encrustrations, otherwise, very fine.

SICILY. Leontini. Circa 450-440 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 22 mm, 17.13 g, 2 h). Laureate head of Apollo to right. Rev. VΕΟ-ΝΤ-Ι-ΝΟ-Ν Lion’s head with open jaws to right; around, four barley grains. Boehringer 37. SNG ANS 222. Nicely toned and clear. Nearly extremely fine.

SICILY. Messana. 450-446 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 17.31 g, 6 h). Charioteer driving biga of mules walking to right; in exergue, olive leaf with fruit. Rev. ΜΕΣΣΑΝΙΟΝ Hare springing right. Caltabiano 438 (D185/R177). Clear and attractive example; toned. Die break on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.

SICILY. Segesta. Circa 420 BC. Didrachm (Silver, 21 mm, 8.27 g, 10 h). Hound standing left; above, head of the nymph Segesta to left. Rev. ΣEΓEΣΖAΖIB Head of the nymph Segesta to right. Hurter 168 (V49/R94). Toned; rare die combination. Overstruck, otherwise, very fine.
