AUSTRIA. Holy Roman Empire. Maria Theresia, 1740-80. Taler (Silver, 41 mm, 27.12 g, 12 h), Hall, 1764. M.THERESIA. D.G.R.IMP. GE.HU. BO.REG. Draped and diademed bust of Maria Theresia to right; before, zigzag countermark. Rev. ARCHID. AUST.DUX. BURG.CO. TYR. 1764.X. Crowned double-headed eagle; at the centre, heraldic breast shield. Davenport 1120. Eypeltauer 79. Scarce type and very rare with this countermark, which is similar to the El Salvador, 8 reales, zigzag countermark (Type II, 1834-5). Minor marks, otherwise, extremely fine.
