Aspron Trachy (Silver, 23 mm, 2.95 g, 6 h), Pre-reform coinage, Thessalonica, 1081-1092. + KE RΘ[ΑΛΕΖ] / IC - XC Bust of Christ, nimbate, facing, raising right hand in benediction and holding Gospels in left. Rev. ·/Δ/Μ/Ι/Τ/[P] - Δ/ΕC/[Π/O/Τ] St. Demetrius, nimbate and wearing military attire, on left, holding sheathed sword in left hand and presenting patriarchal cross to Alexius, crowned, on right, standing facing. DOC IV 5a. SB 1905. Metal fault and weak strike on obverse, otherwise, fine / good very fine.
