SICILY. Syracuse. Deinomenid Tyranny, 485-466 BC. Didrachm (Silver, 20 mm, 8.38 g, 4 h), under Gelon I, circa 485-480. Nude and bearded horseman riding to right. Rev. ΣVRA-KOΣ-IΟN Head of Arethusa to right, wearing necklace and pearl diadem, her hair falling down behind; around, three dolphins swimming clockwise. Boehringer 93 (V45/R62); SNG ANS 26 (same dies). Light toning. Even wear, otherwise, good fine.
