From a Swiss collection.

Tarpeia was a Vestal Virgin and the daughter of a Roman army commander. At the time of the abduction of the Sabine women she betrayed Rome to the families of those abducted - not out of compassion, but because Tarpeia thought it would earn her a reward of jewelry. Instead, she was crushed to death by Sabine shields and her body cast from the southern cliff of Rome's Capitoline Hill, thereafter called after her the Tarpeian Rock.
