ATTICA. Athens. Circa 475-465 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 23.5 mm, 16.51 g, 6 h). Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Attic helmet adorned with three olive leaves and palmette, round earring and pearl necklace. Rev. ΑΘΕ Owl standing right with head facing; to left, crescent and olive sprig; all within incuse square. HGC 4, 1595. SNG München 44. SNG Lockett 1837. Starr, Group IV, Pl. XIII 128. Svoronos pl. 9, 7-12. A beautiful owl reverse! Some roughness and pitting on the obverse, otherwise, very fine / extremely fine.
