CELTIC, Lower Danube. Imitations of Thasos. Late 2nd-1st centuries BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 30.00 mm, 16.93 g, 11 h). Stylized head of a youthful Dionysos to right, wearing elaborate ivy wreath with leaves and berries. Rev. Debased legend. Youthful Herakles, nude, standing facing, head left, holding club in right hand and cloak in left; in field to left, N. Lanz 971-4. OTA ppl. 46-7, Class III. Head of Dionysos with sharp, angular features. Good very fine.
