CALABRIA. Tarentum. Circa 480-470 BC. Didrachm or nomos (Silver, 20 mm, 7.81 g, 4 h). ΤΑRΑϟ (retrograde) Oikist, nude, seated on a dolphin swimming to right, with his left arm outstretched; below, sea snail shell. Rev. Head of Satyra to right, her hair bound with a broad taenia; all within a circular linear border. Fischer-Bossert 133c (this coin). Jameson 93 (same dies). Vlasto 151 (same dies). Very rare. Finely toned and of wonderful early Classical style. Minor scratches, otherwise, good very fine.
