CILICIA. Mallos. Circa 390-385 BC. Stater (Silver, 22 mm, 10.39 g, 2 h). Persian king, wearing kidaris and kandys, moving to right in the kneeling-running stance, holding a transverse spear with its point downwards in his right hand, and a bow with his left; in the field to left, barley grain. Rev. ΜΑΛ Herakles, standing facing, strangling the Nemean Lion, which he holds against his right leg; in the field to left, club with its head resting on the ground. Casabonne Type 7. Comparette (this coin). Nanteuil 526 (this coin). SNG Levante Supp. 24 = Waddington 4358 (same dies). SNG Paris 398 (same dies). SNG von Aulock 5718 (same reverse die). Weber 7566 (this coin). Beautifully toned, well-struck and of fine style. Die fault on the obverse and minor die rust on the reverse, otherwise, about extremely fine.
