SICILY. Tauromenion. Circa 317-275 BC. (Bronze, 20 mm, 5.20 g, 6 h). APXEΓETAΣ Laureate head of Apollo Archegatas to left. Rev. TAYPOMENI/TAN Bull butting left. Calciati 2. Campana 3a. HGC 2, 1583. SNG ANS 1110. Rare. With a fine head of Apollo, powerful bull and an attractive mottled dark green patina. Slight granularity on the obverse and breaks in patina on the reverse, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.

From the Dr. Paul Peter Urone Collection, acquired from F. Kovacs.

Interestingly enough, this coin type is much more commonly found as a heavy weight coin (dilitron?) weighing circa 14 g, rather than as the lighter weight coin we have here.
