Lucius Verus, 161-169. Medallion (Bronze, 38 mm, 46.18 g, 11 h), Rome , 165. L AVREL VERVS AVG ARMENIACVS IMP II TR P V COS II, Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Lucius Virus to left. Rev. Victory standing facing, her body turned slightly to left but with her head turned to right, holding a long palm branch with her right hand and stretching out her left hand to right to touch a military trophy; on the left of the trophy's base. Parthian captive seated to right; to the right of the trophy, captive child standing to left. Banti 199 var. = Cohen 346 var. (TR P IIII). Gnecchi 30 and pl. 75, 3 (same dies). MIR 18, 1026-11/47. Very rare. A powerful and attractive coin with a fine, dark green patina, a noble portrait of the emperor and an evocative reverse. Some smoothing in the fields, otherwise, good very fine.
