ΒΑΣΙΛΕΙΟΝ ΤΗΣ ΕΛΛΑΔΟΣ Crowned and mantled coat of arms of the Kingdom of Greece; below, 100 ΔΡΑΧΜΑΙ flanked by the privy marks bee (for the Mint Director, Renouard de Bussière, 1860-1879), on the left, and an anchor (for the Engraver General, A. CALABRIA. Tarentum. Circa 302-280 BC. Nomos (Silver, 20.5 mm, 7.76 g, 11 h), struck under the magistrates Si- and Lykon. Nude cavalryman striking downwards with a spear held in his right hand, with a shield over his far shoulder and holding two reserve spears in his left hand, riding a horse galloping to right; in the field behind him, ΣΙ; below, ΛΥΚ[ΩΝ]. Rev. [TAPAΣ] Phalanthos, nude, holding a small dolphin in his outstretched right hand, riding a dolphin swimming to left. Vlasto 695; HN Italy 967; SNG ANS 1069-70. Toned. Flan flaw on obverse and minor die wear, otherwise, good very fine.
