KINGS OF MACEDON. Ptolemy Keraunos, 281-279 BC. (Bronze, 17 mm, 4.41 g, 4 h). Laureate head of Zeus right. Rev. Eagle standing on thunderbolt to right; behind and before, two monograms. SNG ANS -. SNG Copenhagen 255. SNG Kikpe 447. Rare. Dark brown patina, perfectly centered. Good very fine.

The middle denomination of the bronze coins of Ptolemy Keraunos should not be confused with the, more common, larger denomination (SNG Copenhagen 253-254) as they share the same depictions. A quick check of the weight can resolve this issue. The whole series were recently attributed to Ptolemy Keraunos. Prior to that it was believed that they were civic issues of Paroreia.
