SICILY. Gela. c. 339-310 BC. Litra (Silver, 9 mm, 0.65 g, 5 h). Head of youthful Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress; behind, astragal. Rev. Γ-ΕΛΩΙΩΝ Head of bearded river god to left, wearing a wreath of reeds and with a small horn over his forehead. Jenkins, Gela pl. 31, 541.6 (same dies). SNG Lloyd 999. Rare. A particularly elegant coin, with dark gray patina. Lightly rough surfaces, otherwise. About extremely fine.
