Marcus Aurelius, 161-180. Sestertius (Orichalcum, 30 mm, 24.69 g, 7 h), Rome, 173. M ANTONINVS AVG TR P XXVII Laureate bust of Marcus Aurelius to right, with slight drapery on far shoulder. Rev. IMP VI COS III / S C / RELIG AVG Mercury standing left on pedestal, holding caduceus and purse, within temple with four herms as columns; within semicircular pediment, the symbols of Mercury, tortoise, cockerel, ram, caduceus, winged helmet, and purse. Banti 257. RIC 1075 var. (bust type). Cohen 535. With an attractive brown patina, and a finely detailed reverse. Good very fine.
