Philippopolis, Thrace. Commodus, 177-192. Tetrassarion (Bronze, 29mm, 15.44 g 11), Caecilius Servilianus, legate, 191-192. ΑΥΤ ΚΑΙ ΑΥ ΚΟΜΟΔΟC Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Commodus to right. Rev. ΗΓΕ ΑΙ CΕΡΟΥΕΙΛΙΝΟΥ ΦΙΛΙΠΠΟΠΟΛΕΙΤΩΝ Eagle with closed wings standing to right, his head turned back to left; in beak, wreath; below to right, serpent coiled to right. Cf. Varbanov 930-932. An attractive coin with a good portrait and a dark green patina. Fields slightly smoothed, otherwise, about extremely fine.
