SATRAPS of CARIA. Hekatomnos, c. 392/1-377/6 BC. Drachm (Silver, 13mm, 4.27 g). ΕΚΑ Head of a roaring lion to left, his leg stretched to right below. Rev. Stellate pattern. SNG Copenhagen 588. SNG Keckman 275. SNG von Aulock 2356. Nicely toned and bold. Nearly extremely fine.

From the RRG collection, acquired prior to 1978.

It should be noted that this obverse type is based on that found on the diobols of Miletos and shows us an abbreviated view of a lion that is looking back to left - this is clear from the way his right front paw is stretched out to right.
