CARIA, Chersonesos. c. 500-480 BC. Tritetartemorion (Silver, 10mm, 0.94 g 6). Lion’s head to right with open jaws. Rev. ΧΕΡ Bull’s head to right; all within incuse square. BMC 3 = Cahn X2 (same dies). Cf. SNG Munich 334 and Rosen 625 (but both without the ethnic). Extremely rare. Attractively toned as found. Extremely fine.


From the RRG collection, acquired prior to 1978.

This minor town was a dependency of Knidos - its coinage is uniformly very rare, especially in such good condition.
