KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 16.97 g, 12 h), posthumous, Corinth, c. 310-290. Head of youthful Herakles in lion's skin headdress to right. Rev. ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus seated to left on a high-backed throne with two Nikai on the uprights, holding eagle on his outstretched right hand and long scepter in his left; in field to left, Athena standing left with spear and shield; below throne, ΔΕ. Noe 59.2, d (this coin). Price 702. Rare. Beautifully toned and boldly attractive. Slightly softly struck, otherwise, good very fine.
