KINGS OF THRACE. Lysimachos, 305-281 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 28 mm, 17.06 g, 6 h), Alexandreia Troas, 297/6-282/1. Diademed head of the deified Alexander the Great to right, with horn of Ammon over his ear. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ - ΛΥΣΙΜΑΧΟΥ Athena seated to left on throne, leaning her left elbow on her shield and holding Nike, crowning the king’s name, in her right hand; behind, transverse spear with point below left; in field to left, ram's head to left; in exergue, monogram of ΜΕΡΞ and Μ. Muller 128 (ascribed to Samothrace). Cf. Thompson 151 (as Alexandreia Troas for the ram's head, but without this monogram and letter). Bold, attractive and well-centered, with a pleasing portrait of Alexander. Some minor marks, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
