MACEDON. Akanthos. Circa 478-465 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 29 mm, 17.46 g), c. 470. Lion, pouncing to right, attacking bull, collapsing to left with head raised to left; above, Θ to the left of the bull's horn; below bull, base of pellets between plain lines; in exergue, floral ornament. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square with granulated surfaces. SNG ANS 10. Tselekas, 150 (same obverse die). Lightly toned and struck on a particularly broad flan. Very small scuff on the obverse, otherwise, extremely fine.

MACEDON, Chalkidian League. Circa 421-420 BC. Tetrobol (Silver, 16 mm, 2.38 g, 1 h), Olynthos. Ο-Λ-Υ-Ν-Θ Laureate head of Apollo to right. Rev. Χ-Α-Λ-ΚΙ-ΔΕ-ΩΝ Kithara with seven strings; all within a shallow incuse square. Robinson & Clement Group D, 38 (A32/P23, same dies). Traité pl. CCCXIII, 10. Extremely rare, especially with the mint name on the obverse; a splendid toned example, attractively centered and engraved in an outstanding, full-blown Classical style of the highest artistic value. Extremely fine.

MACEDON, Chalkidian League. Circa 395-392 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 25 mm, 14.04 g, 3 h), Olynthos, De.... Laureate head of Apollo to left, his hair falling down the back of his neck. Rev. ΧΑΛΚΙΔΕΩΝ Kithara with seven strings; on the base, ∆ -E (worn in the die). Robinson & Clement Group L. SNG ANS - (but stylistically close to 479-480). With an elegant head of Apollo coupled with a kithara in high relief. Attractively toned. Extremely fine.
