SICILY. Kamarina. Circa 415-405 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 16.54 g, 12 h). Athena, helmeted and wearing long robes, driving quadriga galloping to left; above, Nike flying right to crown Athena; below, in exergue, [heron flying to left]. Rev. ΚΑΜΑ[ΡΙΝΑ]-ΙΟΝ Bearded head of Herakles to left, wearing lion's skin headdress. Westermark & Jenkins 142.43 (this coin). SNG ANS. Toned and clear. Somewhat rough surfaces, otherwise, good very fine.

SICILY. Katane. Circa 461-450 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 28 mm, 17.30 g, 6 h). The river god Amenanos, portrayed as a bearded man-headed bull swimming to right; above, branch; below, fish swimming to right (probably a grey mullet). Rev. ΚΑΤΑΝΕ Nike alighting to left, holding ribbons in her right hand. Cf. Randazzo 54 ff. (O54/R---). Elegant, well-struck from new dies and very attractively toned. Struck from a hitherto unknown reverse die. Very rare. Extremely fine.

ΜΕΣΣΑΝΑ The Nymph Messana, wearing long chiton and holding whip in her right hand and the reins in both, driving biga of mules to right; in exergue, two opposed dolphins. Rev. ΜΕΣ-ΣΑ-ΝΙ-Ο-Ν Hare springing to right; below, dolphin swimming to right. Caltabiano 519 (D207/R216). SNG Copenhagen 400 (same dies). SNG Lockett 826 (same dies). SNG Munich 654. Lightly toned, well-struck and very attractive. Traces of overstriking, otherwise, extremely fine.
