John II Comnenus, 1118-1143. Hyperpyron (Gold, 29 mm, 4.36 g, 6 h), Constantinople, 1122-1137 (?). IC - XC Christ Pantocrator, bearded, nimbate and with his right hand raised in benediction, holding Gospels in left, seated facing on throne. Rev. ΜΘ / Iω /ΔЄC/ΠOT / Tω /Π / ΦV/PO/ΓЄ/(ΝΗ)/Τ The emperor, on the left, wearing stemma, divitision and loros, standing facing, holding labarum in right hand, akakia in left, and on the right, the Virgin, nimbate, wearing pallium and maphorion, standing facing, crowning the emperor with her right hand. DOC 2. SB 1939. Struck on a full flan. Graffiti in fields, otherwise, very fine.
