BAKTRIA, Indo-Greek Kingdom. Artemidoros, circa 100-80 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27.5 mm, 9.27 g, 12 h). ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΑΝΙΚΗΤΟΥ / ΑΡΤΕΜΙΔΩΡΟΥ Diademed and draped bust of Artemidoros to right. Rev. Maharajasa apadihatasa / Artemidorosa (in Karosthi) Artemis standing left, quiver at shoulder, drawing bow; in field to left, monogram. Bopearachchi 2A. HGC 12, 352. Mitchiner 402. SNG ANS -. Extremely rare, attractively toned and with a powerful Hellenistic portrait. Light scratch and flan flaw on obverse, otherwise, good very fine.

Maharajasa tratarasa / Apaladatasa (in Kharosthi) Athena Alkidemos advancing to left, brandishing thunderbolt with her left hand and with a shield over her right arm; in field tο lower left, monogram.
