KINGS OF MACEDON. Demetrios I Poliorketes, 306-283 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 29 mm, 17.00 g, 3 h), Amphipolis, c. 289-288. Diademed head of Demetrios to right, with bull’s horn above his forehead. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΔΗΜΗΤΡΙΟΥ Poseidon, nude, standing to left, his right foot on a rock, holding a trident with his left hand and resting his right on his right thigh; in outer field to right, monogram of MAT; in outer field to left, monogram of ΕΥΦ. Newell 121 (dies CXXIII/236). SNG Copenhagen 1177 (same dies). Well-centered, toned and attractive. Good very fine.
