GERMANY. Nuremberg, City. Double Ducat (Silver, 25.5 mm, 4.57 g, 12 h), struck from the dies for the double ducat, engraved to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Augsburg Confession, dies by D. S. Dockler the younger, 1730. Draped figure of Religio kneeling to right, handing a copy of the Augsburg Confession (marked A.C) to the Emperor Charles V, seated left on throne; on the base of the wall to right, D (= Dockler); in the exergue, KAIS.CARL.DEM V / A MDXXX. Rev. ICH REDE / VON DEINEN / ZEVGNISSEN / VOR KOENIGEN // A.C / ZWEITES GE / DÆCHTNVS / MDCCXXX in eight lines within an ornamental border. Whiting 410. Attractive and well-struck. Minor discolorations - cleaned since its previous auction appearances, otherwise, about extremely fine.
