TOPNEΣIA/ TPIANTA in two lines; above, three stars; rosette between two stars below; the whole within dotted circle; around, ANTΩNIOΣ O ΠPIOΛOΣ ΔOYΞ✿. Rev. ▴O AΓIOΣ MAPKOΣ▴ / ▴X▴ Winged lion of S. Marco standing left, with Book of Gospel. CNI VIII, 249. Paolucci 891. Papadopoli 203. Extremely rare, the only example to be offered on public sale for at least 20 years. Very fine.

This is the first coin to be struck with Greek inscriptions since the fall of Constantinople in 1453.
