Julian II, 360-363. Solidus (Gold, 21.5 mm, 4.40 g, 11 h), Nicomedia, 361-363. FL CL IVLIA-NVS P P AVG Pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed bust of Julian to right. Rev. VIRTVS EXERCI-TVS ROMANORVM / NIKI Julian, helmeted and in military dress, standing to right, head turned to left, holding trophy over his left shoulder and placing his right hand on the head of a crouching captive. Cohen 80. RIC 115 (as R4). Very rare. Covered in scratches, lightly bent, scuffed and possibly repaired. A masterpiece of modern Balkan Volkarbeit, otherwise, about very fine.
