AKARNANIA, Federal Coinage (Akarnanian Confederacy). Unknown mint. Circa 420-380 BC. Diobol (Silver, 11 mm, 0.70 g, 6 h). Beardless head of Herakles to left, wearing lion's skin headdress; above, crescent. Rev. ΔIO (retrograde) Kantharos. BCD 410 var. Pozzi 1448 (as Thebes in Boeotia). Weber 3330 (as Boeotia). Pecunen 20 (2014), 157. A rare Akarnanian diobol. Slightly porous, otherwise, about very fine.



Both the stylistic similarities and the metal quality, which this coin shares with the following lot, indicates that they were both minted in the same place.
