ROMAN WEIGHTS, Eastern Mediterranean/Aegean Area. Circa 3rd-5th century. Weight of 2-ounkia (Bronze, 21x16 mm, 52.60 g), a commercial-weight in the form of a flattened sphere of doubly truncated form, with a centering point on the top and the bottom; edge as MAH A 39, ounkion of 26.30 g. Engraved on the top with <ΟΥ> and Β; silver-inlaid letters (some of the Β missing); around the circumference: Μ-Ο-Ν, engraved and silver-inlaid. Rev. Plain. CPAI T 1, 46 (same weight but lacking the outer inscription). CPAI T 3, Pera 2, 25-26 (same weight but lacking the outer inscription). Brownish-golden surfaces, with some abbrasions. Good very fine.
