KINGS OF THRACE. Lysimachos, 305-281 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 30 mm, 17.06 g, 11 h), Smyrna, c. 287/6-282/1. Diademed head of Alexander the Great to right with horn of Ammon over his ear. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΛΥΣΙΜΑΧΟΥ Athena seated to left on throne, leaning her left elbow on her shield and holding Nike, crowning the king’s name, in her right; behind, transverse spear with point below left; inner left, turreted head of the Tyche of Smyrna to right; outer left, Φ. Müller 408. Thompson 237. Well centered, toned and with an appealing portrait. Some minor scratches, otherwise, good very fine.

ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΛΥΣΙΜΑΧΟΥ Athena seated left on throne, resting her left elbow on her shield and holding Nike in her outstretched right hand; to left, monogram of ΕΚΠ. Apparently unpublished, but see Müller 454 for a coin with the same monogram paired with another. Well struck on a broad flan, with a powerful portrait of Alexander the Great. Good very fine.
