CELTIC, Middle Danube. Pannonian region, 3rd century BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 18 mm, 13.64 g, 7 h), imitating a tetradrachm of Philip II of Macedon. Celticized laureate head of Zeus to right. Rev. Horseman riding left, bird above horse's raised foreleg, rosette to upper right field. Unpublished variety, cf. Dembski 1100-1101 and Lanz 109, 36. Well centered in an extremely thick flan (only 18mm). Good very fine.

CELTIC, Eastern Celts. Skordoski in Syrmia, Circa 3rd-2nd century BC. Hemiobol (Silver, 7 mm, 0.34 g), "Kugelwange" type. Remains of the laurel wreath. Rev. Horse advancing to left. OTA 209/1. Lanz 519-520. Very rare little obol, missing from many collections. Good very fine.

CELTIC, Eastern Europe. Imitating Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 28 mm, 14.04 g, 11 h), Eastern Europe imitation, c. 250 BC. Head of youthful Herakles to right, wearing lion's skin headdress. Rev. ΑΛΕΕΑΝΔΟΡΟΥ (sic!) Zeus seated left on high-backed throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and, in his right, eagle standing right with closed wings; in field to left, IM; below throne, M. Cf. Price B35 & Lanz 875-7. A very interesting imitation struck on good silver. Good very fine.
