TASGIITIOS around pegasus springing to right. DT 2593. Flesche 186. LT 6295. Brown patina; particularly well struck reverse. Worn obverse die, otherwise, very fine.



This very interesting coin has as prototype the denarii of Q. Titius, struck at 90 BC in Rome (Crawford 341/1. Sydenham 691).

CELTIC, Central Europe. Boii. 3rd/2nd Century BC. 1/8 Stater (Gold, 8 mm, 1.02 g, 11 h). Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Corinthian helmet. Rev. Meaningless legend Athena Alkis striding to left, with shield and spear; below left, N. Flesche 429 (same dies). Paulsen pl. 6, 116 (same dies). Scarce. Well centered little fraction. Usual die break on the obverse, otherwise, very fine.
