CRUSADERS. County of Tripoli. 12th-13th centuries. Bezant (Gold, 22 mm, 3.22 g, 8 h), imitating a dinar of the Fatimid caliph al-Mustansir, Tripolis, third phase, after 1187-1260, or later. Pseudo-Kufic legend of the Kalima in four lines with mint formula and AH date in outer margin. Rev. Pseudo-Kufic legend with the name and titles of al-Mustansir in three lines. Ashmolean 487. Malloy 4a. Attractive, clear and toned. Thin flan crack, otherwise, very fine.
