KINGS OF PARTHIA. Mithradates I, 165-132 BC. Drachm (Silver, 17 mm, 4.01 g, 1 h), Seleukeia-on-the-Tigris, c. 141-139. Diademed, bearded and draped bust of Mithradates to right. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ | ΜΕΓΑΛΟΥ / ΑΡΣ-ΑΚΟΥ Zeus seated left on backless throne, holding eagle in his right hand and scepter in his left; in exergue, monogram of ΧΑΡ. Sellwood 13,6. Sunrise 263. Extremely rare. With a superb portrait in fully Hellenistic Greek style. Toned. About extremely fine.

BACTRIA OR PARTHIA. Sophytes or Andragoras, circa 305-294 or 246/5-239/8 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 23 mm, 16.90 g, 6 h). Head of Athena to right, wearing modified Attic helmet, disc earring and pearl necklace; behind head, monogram. Rev. ΑΘΕ Owl standing to right, head facing; behind, in field to left, galley prow right and vine branch with leaf and bunch of grapes. Mitchiner 13. H. Nicolet-Pierre & M. Amandry, RN 1994, 42 (same dies). SNG ANS 3. Toned, clear and well-centered. Very slightly rough surfaces, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.

BAKTRIA, Greco-Baktrian Kingdom. Antimachos I, circa 180-165 BC. Drachm (Silver, 19 mm, 4.25 g, 12 h), Attic standard, Pushkalavati. Diademed and draped bust of Antimachos to right, wearing flat topped kausia. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΘΕ[ΟΥ] ΑΝΤΙΜΑΧΟΥ Poseidon, nude to the waist, standing facing, holding long trident in his right hand and filleted palm branch in his left; to right, monogram of ΝΟ. Bopearachchi Série 2B. Mitchiner 125a. SNG ANS 280-281. Attractively toned and with a splendidly expressive portrait. Extremely fine.
