PERSIS. Baydād (Bagadat), governor, c. 280 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 20mm, 16.30 g 7), Persepolis. Diademed and bearded head of Baydād to right, with luxuriant mustache; wearing kyrbasia or satrapal hat, and pendant earring. Rev. bgdt prtrk’ZY ALHYA bgwrt pkh Fire Temple; to left, Baydād standing right in attitude of prayer; to right, standard. Alram 515. Klose/Müseler 2/3. Very rare. Bright and very well struck in the usual strongly convex/concave manner . A few very minor marks and a hint of double striking on the obverse, otherwise, extremely fine.

PERSIS. Vahbarz (Oborzos), governor, c. mid 3rd century BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26mm, 16.86 g 1), Persepolis. Diademed head of Vahbarz to right, with luxuriant mustache and jutting beard; wearing kyrbasia or satrapal hat, with flap down to form a visor, and pendant earring. Rev. whwbrz prtrk’ZY ALHYA prs Fire Temple; to left, Vahbarz standing right in attitude of prayer; to right, standard. Alram 526. BMFA 2343. Rare. Nicely toned and with a powerful portrait in high relief. Flan very slightly tight, otherwise, extremely fine.

Diademed and bearded head of Vādfradād II to right, wearing kyrbasia toped by eagle. Rev. Fire Temple with half-length figure of Ahura-Mazda above; to left, Vādfradād standing right in attitude of prayer; to right, standard topped by an eagle. Alram 552. Sunrise 576 var. Bright, well-centered and sharply struck in high relief. Extremely fine.

Diademed and draped bust of Eukratides to right, wearing Macedonian helmet adorned with bull’s horn and ear. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΜΕΓΑΛΟΥ / ΕΥΚΡΑΤΙΔΟΥ The Dioskouri galloping to right, each holding spear and palm branch; below right, monogram. Bopearachchi Series 5 (monogram unlisted). Mitchiner 176 (monogram unlisted). Cf. SNG ANS 463. Triton I, 1997, 618 (same dies). Extremely rare, a lightly toned and splendid example. Good extremely fine.
