Minor flan fault on the reverse, otherwise, extremely fine.

AKRAC - ANTOΣ (partially retrograde) Eagle standing to left on an Ionic column capital with volutes to left and right. Rev. Crab, with open claws, seen from above. BMFA 223 (this coin). Westermark 423.2 (this coin). An outstanding example: a lovely, sharply struck coin, attractively toned, and with a pedigree going back to before 1903. Extremely fine.

Bearded warrior, nude but for a high bonnet, riding to right on a galloping horse; holding spear in his upraised right hand and the reins in his left. Rev. SNG ANS 1237 (same dies). SNG Oxford 1703. Darkly toned, and with bold types, perfect centering, and a head of Silenos immediately reminiscent of that on the famous tetradrachm of Aetna in Brussels. Extremely fine.

Of excellent style, toned and well-struck on an oval flan. Unimportant flan faults, otherwise, extremely fine.

The nymph Messana, wearing long chiton and holding whip in her right hand and the reins in both, driving biga of mules walking to right; above, Nike flying to right with a wreath to crown the mules; in the exergue, two opposed dolphins. Of great rarity, possibly the second example known. Clear. Cleaned, and with some loss of detail, otherwise, about extremely fine.

'SYS' (in neo-Punic) Charioteer, holding kentron in his right hand and the reins in his left, driving a galloping quadriga to left; above, Nike flying right to crown the charioteer. Rev. Head of Arethusa to right with her hair tied by a band; around, four dolphins swimming downwards. Jenkins, Punic 12 (O3/R11). Nicely toned. Minor flatness, some die faults and struck on a typically short flan, otherwise, about extremely fine.

THRACE. Ainos. Circa 400-370 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 15.80 g, 1 h). Head of Hermes facing, wearing petasos and turned slightly to the left. Rev. AINION Goat standing right, feeding on ivy tendril twined round an amphora on a stand; all within a shallow incuse square. Nanteuil 711 = Traité II, 4, pl. CCCXLV, 17 = May, Ainos 370 (same dies). Very rare. Very attractively toned and struck in very high relief from an obverse die of exceptional beauty. Old slash on the neck and some flatness on the reverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
THRACE. Ainos. Circa 374/3-372/1 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 25 mm, 15.71 g, 12 h). Head of Hermes facing, turned slightly to left, wearing a petasos with knob at the top and beads along the edge. Rev. ΑΙΝΙΟΝ Male goat standing to right; below right, wreath; all within shallow incuse square. May, Ainos 407 (A247/P288). With a fine and serene head of Hermes. Toned. Reverse edge struck slightly flat, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.

EΠI XOPHΓO Grape vine with four bunches of grapes, all within linear square; around, inscription with a fly at the upper left; all within a shallow incuse square. Collignon 167 = Schönert-Geiss 452 (V20/R32) = West 113 (same dies). Extremely rare die combination, with only the Collignon example recorded by S-G. Minor flatness, otherwise, extremely fine.

Quadripartite incuse square. Le Rider, Thasiennes, 6. SNG Copenhagen Suppl. 103. A lightly toned and well-struck example of beautiful Classical style, one of the finest of this type known. Some die rust and minor cut on the reverse, otherwise, good extremely fine.

Satyr standing right, grasping the right arm of a nymph fleeing to right with his right hand and raising his left in an attempt to placate her; to left and above, large pellet. Rev. SERMYΛIAO-N Armored warrior, holding spear aloft in his raised right hand, on horseback galloping to right; below, base formed of two horizontal lines enclosing a line of pellets. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΠΕΡΣΕΩΣ Eagle with spread wings standing right on thunderbolt; above, monogram of NK; to right, monogram of ΑΥ; between legs, monogram of ΛΩ; all within an oak wreath with a plow below. HGC 3.1, 1094. Mamroth 20b; SNG Oxford 3277 (same obverse die). Lightly toned and well centered, and with an excellent portrait of Perseus. About extremely fine.

Drachm (Silver, 16 mm, 2.74 g, 6 h), struck under the ministers Hermias and Zoilos during the Third Macedonian War, on the Rhodian standard, from an uncertain mint in Thessaly, c. 171/0. Head of Helios facing, turned slightly to right. Rev. EPMIAΣ Rose with bud to right; flanking the stem, Z - Ω. Price, Larissa pl. LV, 247. SNG Keckman 795. Very nicely toned. Minor scratch on the obverse, otherwise, extremely fine.

ΛΑΡΙ-ϞΑΙΟ-Ν Sandal of Jason to left with double-ax above; all within shallow incuse square. BCD Thessaly II 129 (this coin). HGC 4, 393. Extremely rare. Perhaps the first issue of Larissa. With a remarkably well-struck and well-centered obverse. Nicely toned. About extremely fine.

Youthful hero, Thessalos, nude but for cloak and petasos hanging over his shoulder, striding right, holding a band in both his hands around the head of the forepart of a bull moving right. Rev. TPI-KK-AI-O-Ν Forepart of bridled horse to right; all within incuse square. BCD II 775.6 (same reverse die). SNG Munich 186. Beautifully toned and very well-centered, an unusually fine example. Nearly extremely fine.
THESSALY. Trikka. Circa 440-400 BC. Hemiobol (Silver, 10 mm, 0.42 g, 7 h), struck under the magistrate Euph.... EY Youthful male head to left. Rev. ΤΡ - ΙΚ-K Forepart of horse to left; all within shallow incuse square. Seemingly unpublished but from the same dies as Nomos 21, 2020, 147. Very rare. Nicely centered. Traces of corrosion, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.

AMΠPAKIOTAN Head of Athena to left, wearing Corinthian helmet; behind, tripod. Calciati 65 (same dies, but legend mistakenly recorded with Ω rather than O). Ravel, "Colts of Ambracia", 100 (A46/P68). Well-centered and with a reverse of fine style. Obverse lightly struck from worn dies and with some marks, otherwise, good very fine.

Pozzi 1751 (same dies). Ravel, "Colts of Ambracia", 168 (A74/P109). Sharply struck and of very fine style - one of the very few Corinthian-type staters with Athena's helmet bearing a crest. Sharp and attractive, with a vigorous boar and a rather rural looking Aetolia. Extremely fine.

Forepart of boar, with two legs visible, to right; all within an incuse square . BCD 206 (this coin). Williams post 91 (O - / R 58). Attractive, toned and struck in high relief. Extremely fine.

Of a severe, early Classical style, nicely toned. Good very fine.
BOEOTIA, Federal Coinage. Circa 225-171 BC. Drachm (Silver, 20 mm, 4.91 g, 4 h), Thebes. Laureate head of Poseidon to right. Rev. ΒΟΙΩΤΩΝ Nike standing to left, holding trident with her left hand and a wreath in her extended right; in field to left, monogram above Ξ. BCD 131 (same obverse die). SNG Blackburn 739. SNG Copenhagen 392. A superb piece of exceptionally fine quality: beautifully toned and of splendid Hellenistic style. Very possibly the finest known example of the series. Good extremely fine.

ΑRI-ΑR-Τ-Ι-ΟΝ Poseidon, nude, advancing right, extending his right hand and brandishing trident held in his upraised left. BCD Boiotia 163 (same dies). BMC 16. Head, Boeotia, 3. Pozzi 1378 (same dies). Extremely rare, possibly only the third known example of this die combination. Usual severe die break on the reverse and rough surfaces, otherwise, very fine.
EUBOIA, Euboian League. Circa 357-338 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 16.61 g, 11 h). Head of the Nymph Euboia to right, her hair bound in a roll around her head. Rev. ΕΥΒ Steer standing to right, his head turned slightly towards the viewer. Gillet 918 (this coin) = Wallace 14 (OVI/R 8, this piece cited as being in trade in 1950). Very rare. Struck in an austerely elegant Classical style, attractively toned. Very fine.
