CELTIC, Lower Danube. Geto-Dacians. Later 1st century BC. Denarius (Silver, 17 mm, 3.15 g), copy of a denarius of L. Marcius Philippus. AMCVS Head of Ancus Marcus to right. Rev. PHILIPPVS Equestrian statue to right, on aqueduct; within the arches of the aqueduct, A-Q-V-A-. Cf. Babelon (Marcia) 28, Crawford 425/1, and Sydenham 919 for the original. An interesting and very well-made imitation. Nicely toned. Very fine.
