AE Dirham (Bronze, 30.5 mm, 11.32 g, 2 h), Mentioning the Ayyubid Sultan Salah al-Din as overlord , No mint, No date. Large diademed male head on the right, facing left; smaller crowned bust facing forward; Legend above: حسام الدين ملك دياربكر (Husam al-Din Malik Diyarbakr). Rev. In four lines: الملك الناصر / صلاح الدين / محيي دولة / امير المؤمنين (The King, the Granter of Victory, Salah al-Din, Reviver of the state of the Commander of the beliviers); To the left and right: يوسف / بن ايوب (Yusuf / son of Ayyub). This coin type bears the unique Laqab of Salah al-Din, "Muhiyy dawlati Amir al-Mu'minin" (Reviver of the State of the Commander of the Faithful), most likely highlighting his role in strengthening the Sunni Abbasid Caliphate through ultimately defeating the Shi'i Fatimid state and the recapture of Jerusalem from the Crusaders.
