ISLAMIC, Anatolia & al-Jazira (Post-Mongol). Eretnids. Muhammad II Chelebi, AH 782 / AD 1380. Akçe (Silver, 18 mm, 1.26 g, 8 h), Sivas or Kayseri (Turkey). In a rectangle in two lines: غياث الدنيا و الدين / خلد الله ملكه (Giyath al-Dunya wa al-Din / May Allah perpetuate his kingdom); Above: السلطان الأعظم (The supreme Sultan), below: mint off flan, but either Sivas or Kayseri. Rev. In three lines in a square: لا اله الا الله / محمد / رسول الله (There is no God but Allah, Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah); Around in four segments the four rightly guided caliphs: ابو بكر / عمر / عثمان / علي (Abu Bakr, 'Umar, 'Uthman, 'Ali). In a circle countermark: ? حزبان (ا) لله "Hizbāni li-llah?" (Two parties for/of Allah). H. Perk/H. Öztürk 440. Album M2325. About very fine.

A very rare type, countermarked with a highly interesting and previously unrecorded phrase. The interpretation of the phrase may vary, as it could be read differently. However, Perk and Öztürk mention a possible existing countermark bearing the reading "Hizbullah" on page 171.
