LUCANIA. Velia. Circa 400-340 BC. Didrachm or nomos (Silver, 20.5 mm, 7.23 g, 10 h), from the "T" group. Head of Athena to left, wearing crested Attic helmet decorated with a griffin. Rev. YEΛHTΩN Lion walking to right; above, owl flying facing; below lion, T. HN III 1280. SNG ANS 1287 (same obverse die). SNG Lockett 546 (same dies). Williams 235 (O140/R181). Well-centered and toned. Very fine.
