SICILY, Leontini. c. 450-440 BC. Litra (Silver, 13mm, 0.86 g 1). ΛΕΟ - Ν Lion’s head with open jaws to right. Rev. Apollo, nude, standing left holding phiale in his right hand and branch in his left; to left, altar; to right, barley grain. Boehringer, Münzgeschichte 50. SNG ANS 266. A splendid example, sharp and well preserved with a dark patina as found. Extremely fine.
