LUCANIA, Metapontum. c. 340-330 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 21mm, 7.94 g 7). Bearded head of Leukippos to right, wearing Corinthian helmet; behind, cross-torch. Rev. ΜΕΤΑ Barley ear with leaf to right; to right, 𐅂Η. HN III 1555. Johnston A5.3. SNG ANS 405. An attractive, sharp and well struck piece with an elegant head of Leukippos. Signs of overstriking on the obverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
