MACEDON. Akanthos. Circa 470-430 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 16.91 g, 5 h). Lion right, attacking a bull kneeling to left with upraised head; in exergue fish to left. Rev. ΑΚΑΝΘΙΟΝ Quadripartite square with granulated surfaces; all within shallow incuse square. Desneux 95 var. An attractive example, toned and on a broad flan. Slightly rough surfaces, otherwise. Nearly extremely fine.
