THRACE. Ainos. Circa 374/3-372/1 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 22 mm, 15.05 g, 12 h). Head of Hermes facing, turned slightly to left, wearing a petasos with knob at the top and beads along the edge. Rev. ΑΙΝΙΟΝ Male goat standing to right; below right, wreath; all within shallow incuse square. May, Ainos 408 (A247/P289). With a fine and serene head of Hermes. Toned as found. Reverse slightly rough, otherwise, about extremely fine/very fine.

Ex Nomos 6, 8 May 2012, 32, from an American collection and acquired in 1997.

The head of Hermes on this coin shows us a god who is basically kindly, not at all as dangerous as he appears in the preceeding lot.
