BΑΣΙΛΕΙA ΤΗΣ ΕΛΛΑΔΟΣ Crowned shield bearing the coat of arms of Greece with the Wittelsbach arms at the center. Rev. 5 ΛΕΠΤΑ 1839 Denomination and date in three lines within a laurel wreath tied above and below. Divo 21f. Karamitsos 60. KM 16. PERSIS. Vādfradād (Autophradates) I, early 2nd century BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 30 mm, 16.65 g, 11 h), Istakhr (Persepolis). Diademed head of Vādfradād to right, wearing kyrbasia or satrapal hat, with flap down to form a visor, and pendant earring. Rev. wtprdt / prtrk' zy 'lhy' / br ("Vadfradad, Frataraka of the Gods, Son" in Aramaic) Fire-temple of Ahura-Mazda; above, half-figure of Ahura-Mazda to left; to left, King standing right, his right hand raised in adoration and holding his bow resting on the ground with left; to right, standard. Alram 533. BMC Arabia 1. K&M 2/17. van't Haaff, Persis, Type 533/535/538. Struck from a fresh reverse die. Somewhat rough obverse surface, otherwise, good very fine.
