ΒΑΣΙΛΕΥΣ ΤΩΝ ΕΛΛΗΝΩΝ / A 1876 Youthful head of George I to right; below truncation, in tiny letters, BAPPE. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΙΟΝ ΤΗΣ ΕΛΛΑΔΟΣ Crowned and mantled coat of arms of the Kingdom of Greece; below, 20 ΔΡΑΧΜΑΙ flanked by the privy marks bee (for the Mint Director, Renouard de Bussière, 1860-1879), on the left, and an anchor (for the Engraver General, A. ILLYRIA. Dyrrhachion. Circa 80/70-60/55 BC. (Bronze, 12 mm, 1.25 g, 12 h), civic issue, struck under the magistrate Paterenos. Head of Herakles to left, wearing lionskin headdress. Rev. ΔYΡ / ΠATE / ΡHNOΣ Bow, club and quiver. Cf. Evans 9 in NC 1880 for type (different magistrate) and cf. Ceka 90 for magistrate (drachm). Very rare and probably unpublished. Minor marks, otherwise, nearly very fine.
