Pillet, plain edge with a central hole. 20 / ΛΕΠΤΑ On the left, the Athena of Varvakios standing to left holding Nike, set on a column before her, with her right hand; to the right olive branch; ΕSSAI in tiny letters in the upper right field. ASIA MINOR. Uncertain mint. Circa 5th century BC. Trihemiobol (?) (Silver, 9 mm, 1.06 g, 2 h). Forepart of griffin to right, with open jaws. Rev. Stylized lion’s head facing, with its mane consisting of snake-like appendages. Cf. CNG Electronic Auction 334, 2014, lot 157. Unpublished in the standard references. Slightly granular surfaces, otherwise, about very fine.
